There are situations when you need to send out large files through email, as attachments, but the email provider doesn't allow you to send files which are larger than a certain size. In this case, a solution would be to split the file in several parts, which are small enough to be sent through email. An application which can help you do that is WinDivide.

As its name clearly states, this Windows software was designed for helping you split any kind of file into several parts. Splitting a file into several parts is not only useful when sending them through email, but can also help you when you want to store these files on floppy discs or CDs and DVDs. The application does not need installing and it's enough to run the executable file included inside the program's folder. When launching WinDivide, you will first need to select the file which will be split. The program supports any file, no matter its extension or size.

After the desired file has been selected, the next step is to select the size of each frag. There are some presets available in the interface, which allow you to quickly configure the dimension of the file segments, but you can also add a custom size. According to the chosen size for each file fragment, WinDivide will automatically display the number of fragments which will be created. But the functionality of WinDivide doesn't stop here, as it also allows you to encrypt any file with a password, for protecting it against illegal use. This feature is useful when sending the file through email, as a hacker who intercepts the email will not be able to open the file.

Having all the settings configured, the user can start the split process just by clicking on the Split icon on the graphical toolbar.
